This full-time position offers 80 hours per pay period, scheduled during daytime shifts, at a Sussex campus hospital campus. The role focuses on the care of cancer patients, working collaboratively with oncologists and healthcare teams to optimize treatment plans and supportive care measures. The pharmacist will serve as a subject matter expert for Oncology Fellows, contributing to their education and professional development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain collaborative practice programs with oncology teams for inpatient and outpatient chemotherapy support.
  • Provide educational services and staff development for pharmacy, nursing, and medical professionals.
  • Act as oncology expert by addressing drug information queries and ensuring care plans align with current national guidelines.
  • Participate in rounds with Oncology Fellows, Nurse Practitioners, and Physicians to optimize therapy, including medication selection, monitoring, dosing, and supportive care.
  • Deliver patient-specific medication education on oral and intravenous chemotherapy using teach-back methods.
  • Review and update oncology care plans within the Electronic Health Record system.
  • Identify and resolve medication-related issues using clinical data and patient history.
  • Precept pharmacy residents and students.
  • Engage in Oncology Service Line meetings to enhance the safety, efficacy, and quality of cancer care.
  • Promote rational, cost-effective drug therapy with attention to cost savings and avoidance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice.
  • Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree required.
  • Completion of PGY-1 residency with at least 3 years clinical pharmacy experience, or PGY-2 residency in Oncology or equivalent experience (minimum 3 years oncology practice).
  • Licensed Pharmacist with Board Certification in Oncology required.
  • Preferred candidates may have: • PGY-2 ASHP-accredited residency or • PGY-1 ASHP residency plus 3+ years oncology experience with BPS oncology certification, or • Minimum 5 years oncology experience with BPS oncology certification.
