An interim leadership opportunity is available for a Pharmacy Director at a behavioral health facility specializing in inpatient psychiatry. This contract position provides oversight and operational management of pharmacy services during the initial startup phase.

Position Details:

  • Location: Saint Louis, MO, with a preference for local candidates
  • Facility: Behavioral health site licensed for up to 96 beds, currently starting with 12 licensed beds
  • Start Date: July 6th, ongoing coverage for approximately 8+ weeks until permanent hire
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM plus on-call duties; weekend coverage on-call only
  • Setting: New site with go-live scheduled for July 13, 2026
  • Order Entry System: HCS (training provided)
  • Automation: Pyxis system required, experience mandatory
  • Pharmacy Staff: No additional pharmacy staff or technicians onsite
  • Dress Code: Business casual or scrubs (no color specification)
  • Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead pharmacy setup efforts and ongoing operational management
  • Manage procurement, packaging, and stocking of medications
  • Verify medication orders following patient admission
  • Liaise regularly with executive leadership and Area Director of Pharmacy
  • Provide on-call support as needed, including weekends
  • Engage in remote training sessions with Area Director of Pharmacy
  • Serve as Pharmacist in Charge temporarily if needed; coverage for PIC currently arranged
  • Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Active Missouri Pharmacist license with Medication Therapy Services endorsement
  • Proven experience in inpatient behavioral health pharmacy settings
  • Proficiency with Pyxis automation system and familiarity with HCS order entry
  • Ability to independently manage pharmacy functions in a startup environment
  • Strong communication skills for interaction with clinical leaders and executive teams
  • Ability to work flexible hours and respond to on-call needs
