Vermont Area Information
March is maple season in Vermont so get ready to tap some trees and make your own maple syrup during you next travel pharmacy assignment. The Seventh Annual Vermont Maple Open House Weekend will be held at sugarhouses throughout the state from March 28-30. If you can’t make the open house don’t worry there’s another event around the corner. The 42nd Annual Vermont Maple Festival held in St. Albans in April.
Vermont is open all year round for visitors who simply want to enjoy the peaceful nature of the state. Spring is a tricky season in Vermont because after the maple tapping comes the dreaded “mud season” which passes quickly and rewards the patient with lush blossoms of spring. Ahhh sweet summer with swimming holes abound; enjoy ice-cream on a shaded front porch. Or take in one of the outdoor concerts with a picnic blanket and take leisurely mountain hikes into the long summer evening. In autumn the state is in all its glory. The colors of the leaves are so radiant it will take your breath away. Winter is the biggest tourist season, and for good reason. The skiing is lovely, hot cocoa by the fire is divine and a dip in the hot tub to relieve sore bones is the best.
Dining out is a true experience in Vermont. One of my favorite places is The Parker Pie Company in West Glover with rotating micro-brews on tap and cheesy pizza makes this pub a heartwarming place to share a meal. Tuesday nights are $2 beers so you must go early. Horn of the Moon vegetarian restaurant in Montpelier is also fabulous. Find your own secret hideaway in Vermont, not matter where you go during your travel pharmacy job you’re home.
