Support pharmaceutical operations in a hospital pharmacy setting by assisting pharmacists with medication preparation, sterile compounding, and inventory management. Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist pharmacists in preparing physician orders by accurately pulling labels and filling medications, including unit-dose, topical, reconstituted, and IV solutions.
  • Prepare intravenous, epidural, and intrathecal solutions using sterile techniques in compliance with Sterile Compounding SOPs and regulations.
  • Ensure all completed drug orders are reviewed by the pharmacist prior to dispensing.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe pharmacy environment while following infection control and safety protocols.
  • Manage telephone inquiries and triage calls appropriately.
  • Pre-pack unit-dose medications and remove outdated stock from shelves and automated dispensing systems.
  • Perform daily stocking of pharmacy shelves and automated dispensing machines across the hospital.
  • Maintain crash carts and emergency medication supplies.
  • Deliver completed medication orders to hospital units or authorized personnel.
  • Support special pharmacy or patient needs and participate in competency assessments as required.
  • Adhere to confidentiality and use proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when handling hazardous materials.
  • Additional duties may include managing temperature logs, narcotic pulls, medication inventory, assisting nursing staff with Pyxis troubleshooting, and completing special projects as assigned.

    Qualifications:

  • Valid Pharmacy Technician Registration in the State of Hawaii.
  • Minimum of 2 years of work experience in a pharmacy setting supporting pharmacists, preferably in hospitals, community pharmacies, or medical institutions.
  • Knowledge of sterile compounding regulations and best practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately under supervision.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills.
