An exciting opportunity exists for a Pharmacist-In-Charge (PIC) to lead the licensure and operational launch of a specialty hormone replacement therapy (HRT) mail-order pharmacy. This role is perfect for an experienced, hands-on pharmacist with a strong background in new pharmacy startups and regulatory compliance. The position is contract-to-hire, based in Lancaster, PA, with a targeted start in mid-June.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the named PIC on the Pennsylvania Board of Pharmacy application and drive the licensure process from initial submission through board inspection and approval.
  • Collaborate closely during the build-out phase to ensure the facility meets all physical and operational Board of Pharmacy requirements.
  • Author and implement all pharmacy Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), policies, and protocols before launch.
  • Oversee all pharmacy operations post-launch, including mail-order dispensing, quality assurance, and compliance.
  • Manage DEA registration and controlled substance compliance programs once licensed.
  • Maintain ongoing audit readiness and handle regulatory reviews.
  • Recruit, train, and manage pharmacy staff to support pharmacy growth.
  • Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree.
  • Active, unrestricted Pennsylvania pharmacist license in good standing with no disciplinary history.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ pharmacy experience with prior PIC and startup pharmacy launch experience strongly preferred.
  • Solid knowledge of DEA compliance and controlled substance regulations.
  • Experience in specialty pharmacy, HRT, compounding, or mail-order settings.
  • Proven success leading pharmacy audits, licensure applications, and inspection readiness.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset comfortable working in a pre-operational, build-out environment.
  • Willingness to obtain additional state licensure as the pharmacy expands nationally.
