A specialty pharmacy is seeking an experienced Pharmacy Manager / Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) to oversee operations at a newly established site. This contract-to-hire position offers the opportunity to lead the pharmacy through its startup phase, working alongside one other pharmacist to prepare for full operations and growth. Candidates with a background in infusion and specialty pharmacy management will find this role particularly rewarding.

Location: Foxborough, MA (Onsite)
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with on-call weekend rotation
Contract Duration: 13 weeks initially, with the possibility to extend up to 26 weeks
Start Date: ASAP

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Active Massachusetts Pharmacist License required; Connecticut license preferred or willingness to obtain quickly
  • Bachelor of Science or PharmD from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy
  • 3+ years experience in specialty, infusion, hospital, or comparable pharmacy settings
  • Strong background in specialty pharmacy operations, infusion, compounding, and payer requirements
  • Experience supervising pharmacy technicians and working closely with clinical teams
  • Knowledge of specialty therapies and patient qualification processes
  • Familiarity with CareTend pharmacy system preferred
  • Retail-only experience does not meet requirements
  • Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and ensure compliance in prescription review, verification, dispensing, and documentation according to regulatory standards (State Board of Pharmacy, FDA, DEA, URAC, ACHC)
  • Provide patient counseling and manage medication therapy for specialty disease states
  • Supervise pharmacy technicians and interns, guiding daily workflow
  • Collaborate with Intake, Referral Services, Nursing, Reimbursement, and Pharmacy Operations teams to ensure smooth patient onboarding and prescription fulfillment
  • Support quality assurance initiatives and incident resolution
  • Maintain accurate pharmacy records and operational workflows
  • Participate in weekend on-call rotation as needed
  • Candidates must have strong clinical judgment, leadership skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in an onsite environment.
