Lead pharmacy operations at a specialized post-acute hospital setting dedicated to inpatient care, supporting a census of approximately 23 patients within a 25-bed facility. This contract opportunity spans 8+ weeks and is located in Washoe Valley, NV.

Key responsibilities include managing medication orders, verifying dosages, and monitoring for drug interactions to ensure optimal patient safety. Oversee medication distribution through various channels such as medication carts, automated dispensing cabinets (Pyxis), and emergency supplies. Lead and mentor pharmacy staff schedules and training efforts while maintaining inventory control, including ordering medications and managing controlled substances to minimize waste.

This facility operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with weekend, after-hours, and on-call pharmacist coverage required. The pharmacy is supported by a remote order entry system outside regular hours and relies on on-call pharmacists for backup. Pharmacy operations utilize the Wellsky system for information management.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Active and clear Nevada pharmacy license
  • Experience with IV compounding is essential
  • Previous pharmacy management experience, particularly in hospital inpatient settings
  • Skilled in staff supervision, inventory management, and regulatory compliance
  • Familiarity with automated dispensing systems like Pyxis preferred, as well as proficiency with hospital pharmacy information systems
  • This role demands strong collaboration with healthcare teams—including physicians and nurses—to enhance patient care through excellent medication management and adherence to safety protocols and regulations.
