Two Overnight Inpatient Pharmacy Technician positions are available for a 13-week contract starting August 24. The schedule is 8:00 PM to 7:00 AM, working 7 days on followed by 7 days off, Thursday through Wednesday.

Responsibilities include:

  • Accurately and promptly filling inpatient medication orders, preparing extemporaneous preparations, replenishing carts and trays, and managing medication returns and restocking.
  • Handling medication requests via multiple communication methods; delivering medications through pneumatic tubes and couriers; and sorting returns from nursing stations.
  • Supporting departmental goals through teamwork, flexibility, and compliance with coverage guidelines.
  • Preparing IV medications aseptically and efficiently, maintaining sterile techniques, documenting batches, and assisting with treatment coordination to optimize patient care and minimize waste.
  • Managing automated dispensing machines by filling stock, fixing malfunctions, processing discrepancy reports, removing expired medications, and conducting monthly inspections.
  • Conducting repackaging and inventory control tasks including barcoding, expiration checks, retrieving recalled medications, and maintaining organized stock.
  • Providing excellent customer service by promptly answering inquiries, resolving issues independently, and participating in performance improvement and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of recent inpatient pharmacy technician experience.
  • Valid New Jersey Pharmacy Technician license is required.
  • PTCB certification is preferred but not mandatory.
  • This role demands attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and within a team to support pharmacy operations and patient care excellence. Candidates must be comfortable working overnight shifts in a fast-paced hospital inpatient pharmacy setting.
