This opportunity is for a Director of Pharmacy role within a 35-bed critical illness recovery hospital located inside a larger medical facility in Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania. This position combines hands-on pharmacy practice with leadership and administrative duties, overseeing a close-knit pharmacy team. The facility specializes in caring for patients recovering from complex conditions such as brain injury, cardiac issues, infectious diseases, neurologic disorders, pulmonary conditions including ventilator liberation, renal disorders, and wound care.

Location:
Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania (inside Allegheny Valley Hospital)

Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday, approximately 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM
  • Weekend coverage on a rotating basis (about 4 hours flex time, patient-dependent)
  • When weekend hours are worked, a compensatory weekday off is provided
  • Compensation:
    $140,000 to $160,000 annually, with potential for an annual bonus tied to Pharmacy Audit scores

    Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a working director, actively involved in daily pharmacy operations alongside administrative responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a small team consisting of 1 full-time pharmacist, 1 full-time pharmacy technician, and 2 per diem pharmacists
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and oversee pharmacy audits
  • Participate in the upcoming EPIC system implementation
  • Maintain a high level of clinical oversight and operational excellence in medication distribution
  • Foster teamwork and provide leadership presence
  • Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Current Pennsylvania Pharmacist License or willingness to obtain
  • Acute care hospital pharmacy experience is required
  • Pharmacy management or director-level experience strongly preferred
  • Comfortable managing a small pharmacy team with direct reports
  • Strong clinical, operational, and administrative skills
  • Experience in retail pharmacy alone is not suitable for this role
  • Must be able to function as a hands-on working director and PIC
