Clinical Pharmacist - Smithfield, Virginia
A clinical pharmacist opportunity is available for a 13-week contract in Smithfield, VA. This role involves supporting inpatient pharmacy operations with a strong focus on medication safety and effective pharmacotherapy.
Shift options include:
• Day shifts: 0630–1500, 0730–1600, 0900–1730, 1000–1830
• Evening shifts: 1300–2130, 1430–2300
• Overnight shifts: 1930–0730, 2030–
Key Responsibilities:
• Verify medication orders and ensure accurate order entry
• Manage IV medications, including pain-controlled analgesia and antibiotics
• Identify and resolve drug interactions
• Support chemotherapy medication protocols, anticoagulant therapies, pharmacokinetic dosing, and renal dosing (preferred)
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Document all patient care activities in the electronic medical record system
Qualifications and Experience:
• Must hold an active Virginia pharmacist license at the time of application (non-negotiable)
• Minimum 1 year of inpatient pharmacy experience required
• IV medication expertise, including pain management and antibiotic stewardship
• Familiarity with EMR systems; EPIC charting experience is required
• Travel pharmacy experience is a plus
• Preferred experience includes chemotherapy medication handling, anticoagulants, and specialized dosing
