A veterinary compounding pharmacy seeks a Staff Pharmacist to support and lead daily operations in a contract-to-hire role. This opportunity requires a passionate pharmacist with experience in equine or veterinary/animal compounding dedicated to delivering exceptional care to animal patients. Immediate start needed to fill a replacement position.
Responsibilities include supervising and supporting a team of 3–4 pharmacy technicians, verifying prescriptions, and overseeing the daily pharmacy workflow. The pharmacist will review and manage 25–30 regularly reordered formularies, ensure compliance with policies and quality standards, and collaborate with the pharmacy team to maintain efficient operations. Additional duties involve maintaining a strong focus on animal patient care leadership and assisting with inventory and operational oversight as needed.
The pharmacy primarily focuses on veterinary and equine non-sterile compounding with some sterile prescriptions and processes over 200 prescriptions daily. The team consists of four pharmacists, each supervising several technicians. Technologies used include PK Software for compounding order entry, QuickBooks Online for invoicing, and a planned transition to Pharmetica later in the year.
