A pharmacy technician position is available for a 13-week contract starting March 16th in Sitka, Alaska. This role supports the pharmacist by managing medication orders, inventory, and customer communications within a hospital pharmacy setting utilizing Meditech EMR.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process medication orders, perform pharmaceutical calculations, and enter orders for pharmacist review.
  • Label, fill, and deliver medications to patient care areas efficiently.
  • Conduct inventory management including ordering, receiving, stocking, and restocking medications and supplies.
  • Maintain pharmacy equipment including cleaning and monitoring the IV Hood and Pyxis machines.
  • Handle controlled substances with appropriate documentation.
  • Assist patients by answering questions, triaging inquiries, and managing prescription refills.
  • Monitor refrigerator temperatures and ensure pharmacy cleanliness and organization.
  • Support quality assurance activities and documentation under pharmacist supervision.
  • Qualifications & Experience:

  • Current Alaska Pharmacy Technician license is mandatory.
  • PTCB certification required.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in hospital, ambulatory clinic, or retail pharmacy.
  • Proficiency with Parata and Pyxis automation systems.
  • Strong sterile compounding and hazardous drug handling skills.
  • Working knowledge of pharmacy law, pharmaceutical terminology, and drug names/strengths.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and communicate effectively with patients and healthcare staff.
  • Additional Requirements:

  • Flu vaccination is mandatory.
  • Start date contingent upon fingerprint processing; traveler must schedule fingerprinting promptly to avoid delays.
