A retail pharmacy opportunity is available for a skilled Staff Pharmacist to support a well-regarded health system’s locations in Alamogordo, New Mexico. This is a travel contract assignment with a flexible length starting at 13 weeks, though shorter durations may be considered. You will primarily work at a grocery store pharmacy within a prominent market, with occasional shifts at a secondary retail pharmacy onsite at a nearby medical campus.

Responsibilities:

  • Accurately prepare, review, and dispense medication orders following all protocols
  • Maintain precise patient medication profiles to ensure safety and compliance
  • Supervise and direct pharmacy technicians, verifying daily workflow and activities
  • Participate in the pharmacy team’s medical emergency response efforts
  • Perform medication storage area inspections and remove expired products
  • Orient and train new pharmacy staff members as needed
  • Adhere strictly to infection control and safety protocols throughout pharmacy operations
  • Qualifications / Desired Experience:

  • Active New Mexico Pharmacist License in good standing or willingness to obtain before start date
  • Minimum of one year of experience as a registered pharmacist preferred
  • APhA Pharmacy Based Immunization Delivery Certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days
  • Experience in a retail or community pharmacy setting, ideally in a grocery store environment
  • Strong patient counseling and medication dispensing skills
  • Ability to supervise and lead pharmacy technician staff confidently
  • Flexible and open to covering shifts at multiple retail sites including occasional weekends
  • Schedule:

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
  • Wednesday and Friday: 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
  • Weekends off at primary location; occasional weekend work at secondary location
  • This contract position includes an attractive hourly rate commensurate with experience, comprehensive travel stipends covering housing, meals, and travel expenses, weekly pay, and medical benefits.
