A mail order pharmacy based in Alabama is seeking a qualified Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) to lead and ensure compliance within its operations. This role requires an active pharmacist license in both Illinois and Alabama, with responsibilities governed by these licenses. Additional licenses for Tennessee and Georgia are advantageous but not mandatory.

Schedule:

  • Approximately 8 hours per week, flexible as long as all PIC duties are fulfilled
  • Qualifications:

  • Active pharmacist licenses in Illinois and Alabama (required)
  • Additional state licenses (TN, GA) are a plus
  • Previous experience as a Pharmacist in Charge or in pharmacy leadership roles
  • Strong knowledge of mail order pharmacy regulations and operations
  • Ability to operate independently while ensuring strict regulatory compliance
  • Responsibilities:

  • Oversee full compliance with state and federal pharmacy laws and regulations
  • Manage and maintain pharmacy policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and quality assurance programs
  • Monitor medication dispensing accuracy, patient safety, and daily workflow processes
  • Fulfill all PIC compliance requirements, including documentation and reporting under Illinois regulations
  • Supervise and support pharmacy staff involved in mail order fulfillment processes
  • Oversee controlled substance management, including DEA recordkeeping and reporting
  • Prepare for and manage regulatory audits, inspections, and corrective actions
  • Ensure proper storage, handling, packaging, and shipment of medications
  • Review and approve updates to SOPs, compliance logs, and regulatory documentation
  • Serve as the primary liaison with state boards, accreditation bodies, and auditors
