An exciting opportunity for an experienced Pharmacy Manager / Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) to lead and support operations at a growing specialty pharmacy site. This role focuses on establishing and managing pharmacy workflows, ensuring regulatory compliance, and optimizing patient care services within a specialty infusion pharmacy environment. You will work onsite in a collaborative setting with another pharmacist and a multidisciplinary team.

Type: Contract to Hire
Duration: 13 weeks with potential extension to 26 weeks
Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Weekend on-call rotation
  • Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all pharmacy operations including prescription review, medication verification, dispensing, and compliance with State Board of Pharmacy, FDA, DEA, URAC, ACHC, and other standards
  • Provide expert patient counseling and manage medication therapy for specialty disease states
  • Supervise and mentor pharmacy technicians and interns to ensure quality and efficiency
  • Collaborate closely with Intake, Referral Services, Nursing/Clinical teams, Reimbursement, and Pharmacy Operations to facilitate smooth prescription fulfillment and patient onboarding
  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate pharmacy records, support quality assurance, and resolve any incidents promptly
  • Participate in on-call rotation as required
  • Qualifications & Experience:

  • Active Massachusetts Pharmacist License (required)
  • Connecticut Pharmacist License preferred or willingness to obtain quickly
  • BS or PharmD from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy
  • Background in specialty pharmacy, infusion, or compounding (retail-only experience will not qualify)
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in specialty, infusion, or hospital pharmacy settings preferred
  • Strong understanding of specialty therapies, payer requirements, and patient qualification
  • Experience managing pharmacy technicians and clinical coordination
  • Familiarity with CareTend system highly desirable
  • Skills & Competencies:

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and clinical judgment skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and pharmacy management software
  • Ability to prioritize multiple operational tasks and work onsite effectively
