This opportunity seeks an experienced Pharmacist in Charge to lead pharmacy operations in an inpatient hospital setting. You will oversee a skilled team of pharmacists and technicians, ensuring safe and efficient medication management for diverse specialty areas including OB, orthopedics, pediatrics, oncology, cardiology, and more. The position is contract-based for 13 weeks, with a Monday through Friday day shift from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct pharmacy operations, including scheduling pharmacists and technicians.
  • Collaborate with the Buyer to resolve medication supply chain challenges.
  • Lead the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee by preparing agendas, running meetings, and implementing initiatives.
  • Participate in monthly medical staff committees and COPD readmissions reduction meetings.
  • Manage daily department huddles and monthly meetings to maintain clear communication.
  • Order controlled substances biweekly and oversee payroll and Pyxis access management.
  • Provide guidance and support to pharmacy staff as an on-site resource during business hours.
  • Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid Missouri pharmacy license.
  • Proven experience as a Pharmacist in Charge or Director of Pharmacy.
  • Strong background in inpatient hospital pharmacy practice.
  • Competence in sterile compounding procedures.
  • Familiarity with Meditech Expanse order entry system preferred.
  • Environment and Team:

  • Inpatient hospital with specialty focus areas such as OB (excluding NICU/high-risk pregnancies), orthopedics, pediatrics (excluding PICU), oncology, cardiology, pulmonology, neurology, behavioral health, endocrinology, podiatry, general surgery, rheumatology, and wound care.
  • Collaborative team of 4.5 pharmacist full-time equivalents and 6 technician full-time equivalents.
  • Join during the Joint Commission survey period, contributing to high standards of compliance and quality.
  • A two-week onsite training period prior to maternity leave provides essential preparation for success in this role. No office on-call is required, but the role involves being a reliable resource for pharmacy staff questions and concerns during working hours.
