On a day trip make sure to head towards the Lowell Observatory where a Lowell astronomer discovered Pluto in 1930. Route 66 is notorious for its roadside dinning so if you’re up for a day of exploring or just want to grab a bite after work head over to the famous Galaxy Diner off Route 66 in Flagstaff.
