This is an excellent short-term contract for a certified Pharmacy Technician ready to dive into meaningful, high-skill work in a tight-knit hospital environment. A respected Critical Access Hospital in Central Wisconsin is looking for someone to step in and support their pharmacy operations this summer—with a unique blend of sterile compounding, vaccine management, and Omnicell oversight.


Position Overview

Title: Pharmacy Technician
Summary: Support a wide range of hospital pharmacy functions including inventory control, sterile and non-sterile compounding, infusion preparation, and vaccine program compliance. You’ll work directly with pharmacists and nurses to maintain medication safety and smooth operations across both the hospital and affiliated clinics.

Job Type: Contract

Location: Wausau, WI 54401 (Central Wisconsin)

Schedule: Three 10-hour shifts per week (6:00 AM – 4:30 PM) + every 4th weekend (6:30 AM – 3:00 PM)

Start Date: July 21, 2025

Contract Duration: 9 Weeks


Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and audit Omnicell automated dispensing cabinets

  • Manage vaccine inventories and assist with the Vaccine for Children (VFC) program

  • Package and unit-dose medications for inpatient use

  • Perform sterile and non-sterile compounding (including chemo and monoclonal antibody infusions)

  • Monitor medication storage temperatures and maintain documentation

  • Clean compounding areas and assist in compliance audits


    Ideal Candidate

  • Holds an active Wisconsin Pharmacy Technician License

  • Familiar with compounding techniques (sterile & non-sterile)

  • Comfortable with automated dispensing systems (Omnicell)

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow regulatory protocols

  • Reliable, efficient, and team-oriented


    Job Requirements

  • WI Pharmacy Technician License (active and in good standing)

  • Prior hospital or infusion pharmacy experience preferred

  • Knowledge of VFC program, USP standards, and Omnicell systems is a plus
