Position Title: Pharmacy Technician
Location: New Orleans, Louisiana
Shift: rotating 1st and 2nd shift, 7am - 3:30pm; 2:30pm - 10pm M - F, rotating weekends.
Position Overview:
RPh on the Go is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our dynamic pharmacy team. The ideal candidate will assist licensed pharmacists in preparing, dispensing, and managing medications for patients while providing outstanding customer service and adhering to all regulatory guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prescription Preparation: Accurately assist in the preparation and dispensing of prescriptions, including the labeling and packaging of medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
• Patient Communication: Interact with patients to gather prescription information, provide basic instructions on medication use, and assist with insurance and payment inquiries.
• Medication Inventory: Maintain and manage pharmacy inventory by receiving, stocking, and organizing medications, supplies, and over-the-counter products. Ensure medications are within expiration dates and stored properly.
• Pharmacy System Operations: Utilize pharmacy software systems to input prescription orders, process refills, and maintain accurate records of patient data.
• Insurance Processing: Handle insurance claims, assist with prior authorizations, and resolve medication coverage issues in coordination with pharmacists and insurance providers.
• Compounding Assistance: Support sterile and non-sterile medication compounding activities, following established protocols and safety guidelines.
• Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to all state and federal laws, regulations, and guidelines, including Louisiana Board of Pharmacy standards and HIPAA requirements.
• Team Collaboration: Collaborate with pharmacists and other team members to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of medications to patients.
Qualifications:
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a pharmacy technician training program is preferred.
• Licensure/Certification: Must be licensed as a Pharmacy Technician in the state of Louisiana and maintain current certification (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
• Experience: Previous experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting is preferred but not required.
• Skills: Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency with pharmacy software systems is an advantage.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks with precision.
