A leadership opportunity is available to oversee inpatient pharmacy services as the Director of Pharmacy at a healthcare facility located in West Plains, Missouri. This contract position requires a Missouri pharmacist license and Medication Therapy Services certification, with a focus on managing a diverse range of specialty areas excluding NICU and high-risk pregnancies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Pharmacist in Charge (PIC), ensuring compliance and operational excellence
  • Lead the inpatient pharmacy team of 4.5 pharmacist FTEs and 6 technician FTEs
  • Develop schedules for pharmacists and technicians to optimize coverage
  • Collaborate with the Buyer to resolve medication supply chain challenges
  • Oversee the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, including agenda creation, meeting facilitation, and implementation of initiatives
  • Participate in three medical staff committees and COPD readmissions reduction meetings monthly
  • Conduct monthly department meetings and daily weekday huddles
  • Manage controlled substances orders twice weekly in compliance with regulations
  • Administer payroll and Pyxis user access management
  • Provide resource support to pharmacy staff during business hours without on-call responsibilities
  • Potentially engage in sterile compounding as needed during staff absences
  • Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Licensed Pharmacist in Missouri with active Medication Therapy Services certification
  • Experience in inpatient pharmacy operations
  • Familiarity with Meditech Expanse order entry system preferred, particularly drug dictionary management
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple specialty service areas including orthopedics, oncology, cardiology, neurology, and behavioral health
  • Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
  • Includes two-week onsite training before coverage begins

  • This position is a contract assignment scheduled from approximately early July to early October. The facility is preparing for a Joint Commission survey in fall 2026, presenting a unique opportunity for a pharmacist leader to contribute significantly to quality and compliance initiatives.
