We are looking for a skilled and driven Pharmacist to take on a key role at a 50-bed rehabilitation hospital in Sacramento, CA. This is a working Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) position, where you’ll not only oversee pharmacy operations but also manage day-to-day pharmacist responsibilities.

Position Details:

  • Job Title: Pharmacist (Working PIC)
  • Location: Sacramento, CA
  • Facility: 50-bed rehabilitation hospital
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Contract Duration: 13 weeks (with potential to transition to contract-to-hire)
  • Shifts: Monday to Friday, day shifts
  • On-Call: Shared with PRN pharmacists after hours
  • Work Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week
  • Compensation: $2, 800+ Gross Weekly 

    Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the hospital pharmacy as the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC)
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal pharmacy regulations
  • Dispense medications accurately and efficiently, reviewing physician orders for appropriate medication therapy
  • Monitor patient medication regimens, making recommendations to the healthcare team for drug therapy optimization
  • Supervise and train pharmacy technicians and support staff
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to ensure safe and effective medication use
  • Manage inventory and ensure adequate medication supplies are available
  • Handle medication-related inquiries from healthcare providers and patients
  • Participate in quality improvement and regulatory compliance activities
  • Take on-call responsibilities during evenings and weekends on a rotating schedule with PRN pharmacists

    Qualifications:

  • Licensure: Active California Pharmacist license required
  • Experience: Hospital pharmacy experience is highly preferred
  • Attitude: Professional, approachable, and committed to patient care
  • Skills: Strong clinical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team
  • Additional: Must be willing to assume the responsibilities of the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC)
